You will be happy that you did because once you master Vergil, he is extremely fun to play as. There’s a steep learning curve to this character and I recommend you complete the story once before jumping into his shoes. He can’t double jump and even dodging had a shorter timer than other characters. He is the most technical one around and the usual actions I would have performed with other characters was tougher to pull off and often not available.
Vergil, while sounding badass on paper, is a tough character to master. This transforms Vergil into his demon form and unlocks crazy new combos and buffs all existing attacks making them even more powerful. He can also transform into his demon form by using his Sin Devil Trigger which is refilled by using his Devil Trigger and pressing L1 to move energy from one bar to the other. If you thought Vergil was out of tricks then think again. Enemies defeated in the attack also drop health orbs which is a great help too. The attack kind of reminds of an “ultimate” in role-playing games whereas he stands there and things just go all crazy around him. V then does a devastating attack that uses all of his summonses.
Vergil can also stab himself with a sword which switches places with V. This is the opposite of other characters that thrive on jumping around and performing insane combos without ever stopping. He focuses on staying calm and for the most part, standing still in combat which charges his concentration bar. There’s a lot of fun to be had here when playing as the returning character. The addition of Vergil just elevates this to another level. I always admired how Capcom managed to develop so many great characters in Devil May Cry 5 and deliver in-depth combat styles for each. In short, Vergilis yet another fantastic character to play as throughout the game’s main campaign. His Devil Trigger summons a clone that wields the Yamato and mimics the moves you perform as Vergil during combat too. He has three weapons to choose from, the Yamato blade, Beowolf gauntlet and the Mirage Edge which replaces the Force Edge.
Not only did it bring someone new to pay as but his weapons and combat style varied from the characters already available. For the most part, the Virgil DLC was a welcome new addition to the main game. This DLC pack let you play the entire game as Vergil. Not only to it deliver some changes to its already-fantastic visceral combat system but the game was built on the stunning RE Engine which delivered some gorgeous visuals across environments, characters and the disgusting enemies.ĭevil May Cry 5: Special Edition is a current-gen (meaning PS5 and Xbox Series X) exclusive and comes with all the DLC released for the original game including the Vergil content.
